Hadestown at Lowell Memorial Auditorium

Hadestown brings its folk-opera retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth to Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts, on November 21, 2026. This date is part of the production's ongoing national tour. On boston-tickets.net, the event is listed under Theatre and Musical / play.

Written by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown transforms an ancient Greek tragedy into a Depression-era fable about love, work, freedom, and fate. The story follows musician Orpheus as he journeys into the underworld to find Eurydice, who has entered the domain of Hades. The musical began as a community theatre project in Vermont in 2006, grew into a folk album, and reached Broadway in 2019.

The Broadway production won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and its original cast recording received the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Featured songs include “Wait for Me,” “Road to Hell,” “Way Down Hadestown,” and “Flowers.” The fully sung-through show pairs Mitchell's folk-influenced score with live onstage musicians, atmospheric lighting, ensemble movement, and a distinctive industrial-underworld setting. The touring cast rotates, so performers may differ from the original Broadway company.

Expect an approximately two-and-a-half-hour performance with one intermission. Its emotional storytelling and memorable score give the evening a strong theatrical focus, while the Lowell setting offers a chance to make the show part of a visit to this Massachusetts city.

Venue and Seating Information

Lowell Memorial Auditorium hosts touring theatre productions and live performances in downtown Lowell. Seating location can shape the experience: seats nearer the stage can make expressions and choreography easier to follow, while a more central position may offer a balanced view of the full staging. Check the event's seating chart when choosing tickets, as availability and section names can vary.

Because Hadestown uses ensemble movement, lighting, and a layered set, consider sightlines as well as proximity. Prices currently start around $120, with major-show tickets potentially reaching $500+; final prices vary by seat, demand, and availability.

Parking Information

Plan ahead for downtown parking, especially for a popular touring musical. Available lots, rates, and restrictions may change, so confirm current details with the venue or parking operator before travelling.

• Look for public garages and lots in the downtown Lowell area, then compare walking distance to the auditorium.
• Allow extra time to park and reach your seat before the performance begins; check posted rules and payment options on arrival.
